Laraway CCSD 70C uses the Illinois English Language Development Standards to guide instruction and support for Multilingual Learners. These standards describe the language skills students develop as they learn English and participate in academic learning.
The standards focus on helping students develop English proficiency in four language areas:
Listening
Speaking
Reading
Writing
Students learn to use English for both social communication and academic success across all subject areas, including language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
The Illinois English Language Development Standards provide a framework for teachers to design instruction, monitor student growth, and support multilingual learners as they continue developing English language proficiency.
We serve each child for the purpose of helping reach his or her full potential as a life-long learner.
It is the business of learning that inspires us to teach.
Our ultimate goal is to positively contribute to the betterment of the communities in which WE live.
